What a good family vacation idea with a 9 month old?

My husband is getting 2 days off next month and we want to plan a much needed getaway. Any ideas?
One more question… is it difficult to fly with a 9 month old? I mean, do they usually cry a lot, etc?
Ok then maybe we wont fly.
BUT I cant leave the baby! I have never left baby for more than a few hours and that is even rare.

Keep it really simple and easy. We went to a local indoor water park with our little ones. Luckily we didn’t have to drive far!

Another suggestion is a children’s museum that has a special space for young toddlers to explore.

Plan all your activities around your child’s schedules. And if you can work it out so you’re with a grandparent, the parents can go out on a proper date while the baby’s being looked after!

Go to an all-inclusive resort. My family has a timeshare and those are the only places I’ll go with kids. We have a huge villa (like a condo) with a full kitchen and we can prepare meals whenever we want. The waterpark and pool is within walking distance of our villa. We can go on walks around the huge area. My husband plays golf. There’s a restaurant and shops at the entrance. It’s great. I stay at the Lawrence Welk resorts in Escondido, California. My husband and I have a timeshare in Las Vegas too and I have taken my daughter there too. I could never do a little hotel room.

At about 6 months old we took our daughter to Washington, DC. It was nice, we carried her around in the Baby Bjorn and took lots of pictures. It was more for us than it was for her.

Go some place that you and your husband will enjoy and that the baby can join along too. A water park might be fun but you should check to see if they are diaper friendly. We recently went on a cruise and did not realize until a week before that you cannot take babies wearing diapers into the pools because of health reasons.

Good luck and have fun!

Flying with a 9 month old? Wow you are brave. Since babies have odd shaped ear canals until about a year old your baby may cry if the pressure is too much. Consider a flight less than 1 hour for the first time.

My idea of a two day getaway does not include bringing the kids (and yes, I am a mom) Do the grandparents live nearby? Would they be willing to take the grandbaby for a night? Go to a local hotel, just mom and dad. Really give yourself a break.

If you really just want to take the baby too, go somewhere that you don’t have to fly. I took my oldest on a flight when she was a baby. She screamed the entire flight. It wasn’t until we landed that someone mentioned the fact that her ears probably hurt. If you bring the baby on a flight with you, make sure you have a bottle or something to help “pop” his/her ears.

We went to Virginia Beach to visit family and took my daughter (who was 10 mos. at the time) to the Marine Science Museum and she loved it!

My mother-in-law gave me great tips for flying with an infant, bring a sippy with water, bring snacks and a pocket book with lots of pockets and buttons and compartments for him/her to play with. My little one slept for most of the flight.

I flew with my daughter when she was 3 months old, 7 months old, 10 months old, 15 months old…and 23 months old. I suggest buying the baby their own seat, that way you don’t have to hold them the entire flight! Babies can be held by a parent on the same seat on the same ticket until they are 2 years old. Bring a diaper bag full of quiet toys and easy snacks.

a good place for vacation i would suggest somewhere kinda of adult freiendly and child friendly. Maybe sea word is cool, Animals alwys make people happy, or even san Francisco is great, you can hang out at the warf all day chekc out the shops go to alcatraz eat good seafood, and its pretty child friendly

Now to flying with a todller.
at 10 mnths he will prob sleep more thna my son did, get an early flight so your baby will be tired, and bring snacks or dvd/s maybe a good visual portable toy. Having them in the lap isnt that bad i flew from la to missour and had a lay over inbetween. if oyur goign far i would suggest a layover so the baby can get off the plane and stretch out crawl around they have play areas inside major airports. but if your going somewhere where the flight isnt that long put them on your lap no one wants to pay an etra 200$ if you dont have to………..
